    American Casino

American Casino movie trailer from Leslie and Andrew Cockburn on Vimeo.

“Politicians and the media like to talk about the relationship between Wall Street and Main Street, but investigative journalist Leslie Cockburn’s debut feature gets to the guts of the matter, visiting defectors from Bear Stearns and Standard & Poor’s and other high-level players in the subprime mortgage gamble and, on the flipside, visiting the working-class Americans who were the unwitting chips on the table.” — Tribeca Festival programmers 2009

Listening to Sir Alan over the years I felt he must have self-taught himself that vocabulary reading 1984 from back to front.

        the real Sir Alan Greenspan?:

"This is the shabby secret of the welfare statists' tirades against gold. Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the confiscation of wealth. Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property rights. If one grasps this, one has no difficulty in understanding the statists' antagonism toward the gold standard."

I remember reading here a comment by someone many months ago that Greenspan never really went back on his views of gold, and that what he did was some sort of passive aggressive way to destroy fiat currencies once and for all in one big supernova crash. That he was and still is the ultimate gold bug.

hmm hows that for a twist.

        Interesting theory

Just showing this week for the first time at the Tribeca Film Festival.

By the way - that's me in the car when the trailer first loads, and also later on in the car saying "that's all but 3". Have yet to see it myself, but the producers are top notch.

          Best,
          Sean

I remember reading that as well ag. I think it came from Luke or c1ue.

The thing is, you do not have to bring the system to a brink to bring back metallic money.

There must be ways to achieve that in a less painfull fashion non?
