Thanks for the find Metalman. My first reaction is that the East Texas highway patrol are some very fine candidates to wind up with a nice collar put around their necks, with a nice strong leash to go with it. Need to curb their enthusiasm for getting creative with their "legal mandate".

Notice their artful ethnic targeting, which has the hidden dividend that these segments of the population are statistically less likely to offer them legal challenge. There is talk here of closing the loophole, bt notice no-one was going into any details regarding the material liability (aka Jail Time) of any local police found to be engaged in outright graft and extortion.

Makes the blood boil. These extortionate little fuckers need some serious tamping down. Come to heel now, little highway patrol cowboys. Come to heel now. Time for you sleazy little boosters to learn who your real master is.

Driving cross country on the I-40 this week with my always suspicious California plates I fully expected to be pulled over a few times.

But after passing through somewhere North of Bakersfield, CA, I didn't even see a cop car all the way through the rest of CA, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Finally in Oklahoma today, I saw three. Must be my lucky week.
