  • Downshifting

We are starting to see signs of the social changes that we have talked about here for the past several years, namely, the framing of post FIRE Economy downward mobility as a lifestyle "choice."

    Fred,

Tulip is brilliant. This trend of minimalism is going to be more profound then anyone things. It is becoming chic. Go to http://storyofstuff.com/ to see how deep it may go. It is a great thing in the long run.

Like so many others I have been burned by financial advisors after growing up around wall street, knowing better. I built two software companies, made a lot and then lost 35% over the past year. I still have the email from October 2007 I sent to my advisor telling him it was absurdly obvious that we had a bubble. A peak market with out of control debt? 2T in GDP that is due to cash outs and debt? Same old same old, you can't time etc...

I got out with enough left to be okay. Financial advisors are a scandal.

Chic with who, hipsters or real people? This is an important distinction.
