Where is he wrong? He's been right for so long it's scary. Funny part where he says "I know all these issues and nobody has called me for a postition in Treasury."

I remember in early 08 when he had the guts to say "Ronald Reagan was a failure. He didn't do anything to reduce the size of government."

Interesting video. I really disliked him when he was my congressman in early 1980's.

Mainly because he was very conservative on social issues and during the campaign billed himself as a family values, social conservative.

Maybe that's what he had to do to win elections in the conservative fringe suburbs and small towns that ring Houston.

Locally, anyway, in those days, he never really voiced his enlightened and astute analysis of the U.S. financial system. It was all about family values during the campaigns.

Anyway, I'm glad that he has assumed a much more public profile in recent years on financial and economic issues. The U.S. citizenry can learn a lot from him.

Hey Metalman - just wondering if you know this piece of trivia - If I remember correctly Gary North was a Ron Paul congressional staffer, Ron's main researcher and speechwriter for several years.

I never did find out if RP knew of GN's Christian Reconstructionist links, or if that part of North's life came after the RP involvement.

When that kerfuffle with the newsletter happened I wondered who really put it out.

I suspect as long as the Reconstructionists & Gary did nothing illegal, RP would be fine with it. I wonder how far RP's ideals go in this regard - would he hire a KKK member from a branch that never did any violence (if there is such a branch or coven)

IMHO everyone with a 100 IQ knew that part of Reagan's plans would fail when David Stockman resigned.

as you know, i like paul's take on the corrupt financial/econ system but his policy of allowing right wing freaks to carry his banner ruins it for me.

it helps the oligarchs that their most vocal critics... kucinich, paul, fitts, etc... are just nutty enough to justify the media to not give them full cred.

the moyers interview is an honest to god breakthrough.

I don't think they carry the banner. I just think he doesn't like to criticize people for their beleifs. Think waht you want as long as you don't break any laws you are free to speak your mind.

Salon.com did a great piece on him regarding his stances: That they were based on the constitution. Not what was right or wrong.

Btw: They weren't all nuts.
