  • Even the rappers have it figured out (3 min)

First saw this on Jim Sinclair's web site, jsmineset.com, which links to youtube.

I'm sixty years old and needless to say not a fan of rap, but this has a good beat, and readable lyrics to follow along.

Love it or hate it, rap does have a cultural influence in our society, especially for the younger generation who are its main audience.

"I Want My Bailout Money" by Michael Adams from the album Beyond All Reason

As I said on one of the other threads about this video, Jim Sinclair's line about the significance of it couldn't be any more wrong. This track was created by a random white person and posted on Youtube. It is not being played on hip radio stations or MTV or being downloaded massively. I don't think anyone is going to be influenced by this. My sisters, both in college, would laugh AT me if I sent them this track to listen to.

Maybe Jim doesn't realize that anyone with a recording device can post to youtube? I respect Jim's work. He should hire a hipness consultant.

I don't understand why he said 'If you are offended by rap'. How could anyone be offended by a musical genre? Are you offended by breakbeat? Early baroque perhaps?

Still, I enjoyed the words, though the music was pretty bad I have to say.

Trouble with you Metalman is that you think you are ten times as smart as everyone else when in fact you are only twice as smart.

Is it that you don't understand why Jim said that, or that you don't understand why he felt the need to say it? There is a difference.

"I Want My Bailout Money" is the first song on the new hip hop album by NaturalNews.com editor Michael Adams (the "Health Ranger"). It is freely sharable for non-commercial use. Enjoy it and share it! (Please give credit to Michael Adams and link back to this page where possible, thank you!) Be sure to read the LYRICS of this song on the right column of this page (scroll down).

So he is some kind of journalist and when I listened to it the sound is not that professional.

If he could get together with Larry Flynt and some girls for a video, tweak his song a bit with a professional producer, he could probably even get it on MTV.

White people can make good sounding music, but producing music that is critical is not something the media wants to play.

I'm not in the USA, but is music with a good sound like this played on TV or hot rotation ?

Brother Ali - Uncle Sam Goddamn

What Would You Do? by Paris

Even the Dixie Chicks had problems with being played by Clear Channel stations, but eventually their CD sales were going up anyway.

Brother Ali has a good following in the U.S.

But I'm not going to claim to be hip enough to know the music of Paris.

You may have misunderstood my usage of the term "random white guy". In the U.S., there is exactly one popular white rapper; Eminem.

I'm trying to come up with a list of critical songs, not just lines within them that made it to radio and tv airwaves in recent years. Will get back to you.

                        Both. Mostly the second.

The revolution will not be televised, but it will have a pretty good soundtrack.

Ani DiFranco with some pretty tight lines (listen to the lyrics, they still get me choked):

Rage Against the Machine told us to 'Wake Up', 'Take the power back', and among other thing said that Bush should be tried for war crimes & shot.

Even Eminem got agro with his Mosh video.

And one of my faves, Willie Mason's Oxygen

If we're talking about stand up comedians that are critical of the government, no one and I do mean no one, tops the late, great Bill Hicks.

George Carlin was great too, but his gig was more about general stupidity.
