Great scene... thanks for posting.

If this scene were to happen today, Bill Holden would be laughed out of that room... perhaps acknowledged for a quaint little lapse, patted on the head, then reminded that these emotional tendencies are no longer relevant now.

The harsh reality now is that people like Holden's character don't make it into these rooms any more... they're simply not allowed into the club.

An inspired choice of video. But what you have reminded me of is that when I stood up to say something along the same lines, (but certainly not with the intensity of William Holden), at a government inspired conference in the UK to support the Inland Revenue proposals to introduce Venture Capital Trusts during the 1990's, someone on the platform told me to "stop being emotional" as a put down... My my, that did indeed bring back memories.

But there is another aspect to this and it is that, while we all sit around expecting the worse, the reality is, if we get up off our butts and have the courage to make a stand, we can also change things for the better. We do not have to wait for three, four or five years before making a new start.
