  • No law that Media must tell the Truth

Fox News ordered the reporters to change this story on growth hormones in milk, the reporters refused and Fox fired them. The reporters sued and LOST on appeal when the court ruled that since there is no law requiring the media to tell the truth about anything, the mainstream media is within their legal rights to fire reporters who refuse to lie!

(Important note: After a long court battle, the Court dismissed the whistle blowers protection for the reporters because the Court stated that there was no law to force that the NEWS state the truth! Fact! Going on to say the NEWS was no different than other TV shows/reality shows!!)

What would be interesting is to charge them with anti-fraud or truth in advertising laws, if they ever advertise that their news is true.

Having followed Darl McBride's and SCO group's litigation / campaign / fiaSCO against all things Linux since 2003, I do NOT expect fairness out of the US court system

"Although statements by the media are protected by the First Amendment, the survey results demonstrate that the public believes that the press bears some responsibility for the lack of confidence in the economy. One would hope that the media would act less out of self-interest in these times of national crisis."

Richard Scheff,, vice chairman and partner with Philadelphia-based law firm Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads and a national expert on corporate liability and white collar crime. Mr. Scheff has warned that the media could potentially be exposed to liability lawsuits.

(I wonder if Mr. Scheff, in his college sporting days, was known for his misdirection plays….)
