Is the volume on the left y axis daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual?

My mistake - you're reading the legend correctly.

I should have put brain further into gear before typing since the ratio that you see is due to an increase in gold leasing, which is frequently used for manipulation/control purposes as GATA has noted.

    The data is available monthly.

My feeling about this is that it was a coincidence . . . and the result of too short a testing period or periods.

I'll bet that if you continue to test your model with real and shadow trades over time, you will find that it works equally well in both cases.

How long was your period of shadow trades and how long was your period of real trades?
Without scrolling back through your posts, I believe I recall you saying your real trade period was very brief.

Anything can happen in a short period of time, or even with the experience of one investor. To find out if there is some hidden mechanism, one would have to do the comparison for a period of weeks . . . a probably with a number of investors.

Also, I would look at what made you decide to switch from shadow to real trades at a certain point in time. Perhaps there was some psychological trigger their that led to decide to go real that somehow correlated with the behavior of the markets.

The real trading was done over a 8 month period -- sufficient for me to prove to myself that there was a big difference between the shadow trading and the real trading that could not be explained by the small volumes of trading that was being done by me.

I would have to go a lot more into what I was doing, to really explain it -- and I don't think I am willing to do that here.

              I agree, 8 months is a fairly long amount of time . . . not conclusive . . . but suggestive.
