Fred,

Before you consider the flat tax issue, you have to ask your self the question - "Why were the Income tax act and the act creating the Federal Reserve passed in the same year 1913 -- was there a link, and if so what was it?" Then you have to consider -- when was the only other time in US history that there was an income tax -- and what were the circumstances under which it was levied?

When you have found answers to those, you will realize that the flat tax will cause the same problems that the income tax was created to prevent (but did not -- because it was successively weakened and applied to people who were never supposed to be affected by it!)
