Perhaps not, but able to do much about it, I doubt. Also, these events can be mutually exclusive. The stupidity of the common homeowner in taking a loan for 50X their annual salary should not be forgiven either just because we're bailing out the banks. As a S. Florida homeowner (30-year fixed thank you), I am losing equity every day thanks to these people. I still don't want them saved.
