While much can be gleened from this propaganda-filled BBC documentary, the understanding far outweighs the misdirections. One could take a myriad of frame-views, and we can certrainly expand on this in this thread, but let me start by summarizing the message as follows.....
Not only have we now accepted a global society where machines oversee every aspect of humanity, but this documentary also argues that we have also accepted the notion that humanity is nothing more than "Machines of Unloving Grace" who require such oversight in order to preserve the system.
People have given up on a dynamic political model of the world -- the dream of changing things for the better -- for a static machine ideology that says everyone is a component in a system, and that the aim is to manage these systems and keep them "stable". Stability is sold to the public under the false notion that nature is stable, but as you will see in part-2, there is no ecosystem and nature is anything but stable.
Ultimately, the result of these perceptions is that people depart from a Jeffersonian world view, where the Individual is made in the image of a God, and migrate to a view where they see themselves as nothing more than a component (perhaps even a machine-component) in a global ecosystem where that system has primacy.
