There is a growth market in this country in firms that specialize in demolishing and recycling steel and other materials from these old factories; businesses are happy to get non-productive buildings leveled and their property taxes reduced.

A sad state we are in.

The parking lot in the office complex where I work has been mostly empty for years, but in the last two months it's been totally full, since one of the offices is now occupied as a phone room. They work for the banks, scheduling landscapers to mow the lawns of foreclosed houses all around the country. They need to hire more staff but there isn't enough room, so they're moving to larger quarters at the end of the month.

Who says there aren't jobs in this economy!

True that. And glamorous, high-paying jobs (sarcasm) sitting at a table with a computer and headset, scheduling lawn mowers for empty houses that real people used to live in. Because the banks now own so many houses that they had to outsource the scheduling. This is the kind of job growth that will Bring America Back! Let's foreclose on more houses!
