I recognize that EJ holds this fellow in some disdain, but I believe DS is describing the situation correctly. We do not have a problem needing a solution. We are in a predicament that will have an outcome, but only with great pain and loss. (Not my phrasing.)
His experience in government and banking gives him practical experience, and he has not always towed the line, though I suspect he has profited from the mess. That, after all, is what we are trying to do.
