If there is an alternative energy with potential to completely revolutionize our global dependance on fossil fuels, cold fusion may very well be that ALT-E option... Assuming of course it can not only be proven beyond a doubt that it is real and reproduceable, but also receive the funding and government support.

A few dozen acclaimed scientists with separate laboratories in different countries over the past couple of decades say it is real and possible, many others (some of which control government funding) claim it is hogwash.
