rosenberg says he's not in the stagflation camp because he doesn't see incomes rising, so he doesn't see inflation, he sees a shift in relative prices. he explains this to mean that while food and energy prices rise, they cause a deflationary shock by sucking up spending, reducing demand for discretionary items like "vacations and cars and refrigerators." [his list] this has been the itulip prediction for years: rising prices for everything you need, lower prices for everything you [merely] want.
