Is that real? It seems like a python skit? Is pot legal in Vermont? Are they all high? Do I get to keep the half egg carton of pot for free? Is the itulip investment going to be a hydro farm in Vermont?

      Chronic.

Wow! That is going to be one messed up State. I LOL'ed at the "Are you against any other parts of the Bill of Rights, or just the whole thing?". I actually thought this was some kind of SNL skit it was so funny, until I sadly realized it was real. Also love the plug about "Money as Debt" video.

The older I get, (i'm young) the more I realize all that BS that was taught in school about democracy and how it finds great leaders. All I need to discredit democracy are the names clinton, bush, obama, all in my lifetime, not forgetting to mention the fools who elected them. This buffoonery demonstrates that the only thing democracy does is find someone dumb who is willing to subvert the system and people.

PS. How do you show up to a debate, without a suit and tie? Seriously, if you want to join the sociopath club, do it in style.

Feeling superior to all politicians is a smug cynicism. Was bush evil? Is Obama a failure? Or is the task impossible. David brooks has a good piece today.

None of this would play in a moderately well-educated society (say, Canada); to blame politicians for the intelligence of politics in this country misses the point that there are plenty of people for whom this nonsense works. The blame lies entirely with the customers, and the politicians are merely selling what the people want to buy. The solution is to educate the customers, not demand altruistic professional suicide from the players.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Which politicians are we proposing to silence?

Wasn't the title of this thread a few days ago something to the effect that China was watching? I sure hope they were, because the only people on that stage in China would be ones preselected by a few nonelected individuals.

Wasn't there also a thread awhile back about starting a 3rd party. Fat chance a 3rd party will have if you don't let them be heard.

There are ways to narrow the field of debaters after the first debate or two, but I'd much rather give a chance for more to be heard than only 2.

I loved this. This is a republic in action. These candidates (especially the independents) were talking about the issues. And even (today's) "fringe" candidates had the opportunity to weigh in.
It's going to be messy, but we need an open debate about policy and ideas if we are going to solve the challenges facing our country. Can't miss this bigger point. I trust that the voters of VT will sort this out.
