  • Kyle Bass (Hayman Investments) on CNBC

This guy would probably make for an interesting interview. Don't know much about him but was watching CNBC over lunch (had caught sportscenter in the morning, not much else to watch)and caught him live. Don't mind the two other dudes on the show, they're clueless.

I will post the links and try to embed. Again, when I post from work I can't embed for some reason. Will fix the embeds from home.

Great videos. I liked that he didn't gloat and seem happy about his views. You don't see that on TV too often.

POWERFUL stuff. Numbers presented from a viewpoint I haven't heard before.

        Everybody should give a listen

Re: Kyle Bass (Hayman Investments) on CNBC

Great videos, I just didn't actually understand his pie chart investment strategy (in the second video) given his negative outlook. In it, he shows his investment strategy as follows:

            25% Bank debt
            23% US High yield debt
            17% US distressed positions
            35% US Mortgages

In the first video he makes a case that the 53% debt to GDP ratio for the US is a pretty bad thing, but then his investment strategy is 'long the US'. Later he argues that the global outlook is very negative (Europe+Japan). So if the US is not out of the woods, how does it make sense to invest in US mortgages (we won't hit the bottom until at least 2012+ in terms of housing prices and forclosure rates), or US distressed positions (what's an example of this? Junk Bonds? Corporates that have sunk 90% and are rated at BBB or lower?)

I think long US makes sense and in those categories AFTER we're pretty sure a bottom and restructuring has occured, not prior to these events.... but hey I'm a total newbie and this guy sounded pretty good.
