Roosevelt Institute Braintruster William K. Black was interviewed in the Huffington Post Investigative Fund’s new video “The Perfect Crime” about the lack of indictments for today’s economic crisis. Black worked at the Office of Thrift Supervision during the savings and loan crisis, leading the charge to go after high-level executives who engaged in insider trading. Those executives were eventually put in jail–what Black says was “the most successful effort against elite white collar criminals in the history of the nation.” But so far no one has been indicted for the current crisis. The banks committed the “perfect crime”: “They got away with it and they made more money then anybody in history.”
