  • Hendry, Taleb and Faber in Davos Feb. 5, 2010 (10min.)

Taleb, does not seem to understand that shorting Government bonds is a recipe for potential disaster (I am paraphrasing FRED here). The only pure play is long PMs, because as we know to well is that the government can steal your money Monday untill Sunday.

    Anyway, here is the clip:

    Runtime: 10min.

Hendry is always an interesting read and frankly, a nice break from the rampant overconfidence I see at iTulip, where the perception has become that there is only one outcome possible.

In particular Hendry's discussion of massive potential US domestic treasury purchases in the future should give us cause for pause.

Ultimately, though - I see that so many differences between outlooks of various smart people just boils down to some clarity on timeline. For instance, Hendry sees gigantic asset deflation and is highly focused on that - he is looking over the next 12-24 months and totally acknowledges that inflation (Faber) may likely be the end game.

And you think the government won't figure out a way to steal your gold?
