Betsey McCaughey? The woman who wrote that piece for the New Republic 15 years ago about Clintoncare that they later had to retract because it was so filled with half truths and lies? Yeah, I'll pass, thanks. Even a cursory amount of research can debunk a good portion of what she's saying, but sadly people won't take the time to look.

Thanks for the reasonable and considered response .

The youtube link is to an audio of Betsy McCaughey on the Mark Levin show. She is opposed to the socialized Health Care plan being considered by Congress.

If someone has some actual criticisms of what she says, that would be interesting.

I'm kind of curious how continuing to use an "insurance" model (provided by the Gov't) is going to be any better than the current setup. Insurance, instead of just taking over the medical system outright, won't reduce waste and costs will still be sky high. What we need is tort reform and to incentivize (with tax incentives) giving pro-bono care to the poor. Just that would go a LONG way to close the uninsured gap without having to completely overhaul the system on short notice for some political stunt.

It's better because it provides for a deeper pocket to pay revenue to big drug and medical companies.

... oh you meant "better" for us people .. sorry .

              Actual criticism?

She is a dishonest, paid stooge for the Republican Party.

              Actual praise?

She's very good at what she does.

                Re: Betsy McCaughey on Healthcare

Yesterday (some people say due to the interview with Jon Stewart) she resigned as a director for Cantel Medical Corp.

This version does a much petter job of showing how devoid of facts Betsy's argument is:

Well, I will allow as how that is actual criticism, yes.

However it is not criticism engaging in what she actually says.

Rather it is yet more ad hominem attacking.

                      Re: Betsy McCaughey on Healthcare

Sounds to me like McCaughey has an agenda and is trying to find a way of reading that bill that will discredit it regardless of what it really says. This is about people dying and she is more concerned with what a doctor may be paid for it???? By that point I think a doctor's involvement should be minimal other than making the patient as comfortable as possible.

I'd need to know more about McCaughey and who she really is working for, patients or the medical establishment?
