      Re: Resist Africom

I remember in the 80's when Steve Vai from the E Street Band helped lead a "We are the world" like entertainer led push against South African Apartheid with "I'm not gonna play Sun City".

During both of those entertainment industry led movements I heard nothing about the Soviet Union-bloc of nations culpability in African suffering.

Surely one or two people on this forum are aware of the Cold War heating up in the Ethiopian/Eritrian/Somali conflicts with flip-flopping superpower sponsors?

Surely someone here will recall the Soviet Union bloc of nations support of the insurgency of Rhodesia?

Surely someone here will see how Robert Mugabe, put on a pedestal by the left wing in 1980, has turned into a massive and intentionally forgotten embarrassment........kept afloat only by China?

Surely someone here will remember the nearly 50,000 Cubans Fidel Castro sent to "liberate South West Africa" along with many thousands of Soviet Union bloc of nations military personnel?

Apartheid was wrong......almost as wrong as the underlying but ignored reasons for Ethiopian starvation, the total failure of the left's poster boy Mugabe, or the complete and apparantly intentional ignorance of China currently, and the Soviet Bloc of nations culpability in African plight in the past.

Does the US have some ownership of some problems in/of Africa?

      Certainly.

But where's the historical and current perspective?

      Just my 0.02c

        Good points lakedaemonian.

In my book however - call me an idealist if you will; "two wrongs does not make one right".
