        Re: Insightful

These scooters have been tried in cities around here. They would suddenly just appear. A lot of people got hurt. ERs reported a big rise in broken arms and broken heads. Riders didn't put the scooters back on racks, they just left them everwhere, cluttering sidewalks and blocking driveways.

I always wondered why they weren't set up so that riders' cards would keep getting charged for usage UNTIL they put the scooter back on the rack properly.

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

More like greenwashing by the companies who let these scooters, and some useful idiots believing their propaganda.

In my city there have been at least 2-3 companies doing the same for 2 years now, with the same results as shiny reported:
                - users go fast with them over streets, pavements, etc. and ignote any and every traffic rule (many accidents, including fatalities)
                - they get dumped everywhere, as well as vandalized by people who hate these things
                - very much doubt it leads to reduction in traffic. My anecdotal observation is that they get used by pedestrians who would have otherwise walked. i.e. they lead to more road traffic rather than less.
