Bloody Hell, just look at what is involved!!!!!
    https://www.theguardian.com/environm...mbly-in-france

"Millions of components will be used to assemble the giant reactor, which will weigh 23,000 tonnes and the project is the most complex engineering endeavour in history. Almost 3,000 tonnes of superconducting magnets, some heavier than a jumbo jet, will be connected by 200km of superconducting cables, all kept at -269C by the world’s largest cryogenic plant."

At what price per megawatt do they think this can generate energy?

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

The reactor produces no useful power output. It's an experimental proof-of-concept machine.

Which makes me think of Lockheed Skunkworks compact fusion reactor project.
That made a big splash and went nowhere fast. Apparently they are still working on it.

The British held a press con-fence in the early 70's to tell the world they cracked it.......Britan the World leader!

            .......still waiting.

Fusion power is a hard nut to crack.

I have no doubt it will be, splashing money on engineers & physicists seems to brings tremendous bang to buck.

Where would we be if we did not spend billions on CERN? just a side project and the World Wide Web was created...
