would also appear this area is right smack dead center of tornado alley...

as much as i tend to enjoy being in/observing extreme wx events - this def is NOT a place i'd want to hang out at, never mind live/own a house in.

cant help but feel sad/sorry for these folks tho - on top of everything else thats happnin (to most of The Rest of US), this has got to be pushing a lot of em over the edge - dont know how they manage it, but gotta hand it to em that just keep on getting up, cleaning up and putting it all back together again - esp the first responders/volunteers = perty damn awe inspiring (and brings tears just thinking about it all...)

Agree with your sentiment and admire their fortitude, but repeatedly "putting it all back together again" the same way as before strikes me as, no offense intended to anyone, just dumb. They really need to radically re-think they way they build.

I would not live in tornado alley unless I lived in a dugout home below ground, or in a geodesic dome, or something that was built to withstand an EF-5. Geodesic dome kits typically cost less to construct than regular stick-built homes.
