But I need my Bella updates, and I've been wondering how your mum is doing. Take a break. Turn off the @_)&%#(%^!@+!&^! computer, go outside and get some fresh air, recharge your spiritual batteries and come back here when you're feeling better.

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I agree, Mega. No hope for the future. This world is lost.

The sun still comes up every day.

Even in this 3rd world hellhole with no running water, no grid electricity, and dark age level of health care.....kids are still smiling and happy.

I'm embarrassed to complain about anything when surrounded by so much deprivation.

We all take a lot for granted........there is always a bright side.

A positive mental attitude is the majority of the battle.

You need to achieve escape velocity from the darkness of depression.

There IS STILL a lot to be positive about....even when we're all going down the gurgler.

          +1

The things that make life worth living are in many ways the OPPOSITE of those that we could lose in an economic crisis.

As bizarre as this may sound, you might even be happier. Stories from the U.S. Great Depression frequently cite this effect.

I don't see anything romantic about being a pauper at the mercy of people in power and the world around me.

I suspect it's not so much about "romantic" as it is about letting go of unnecessary physical junk, and all the baggage associated with it. From your posts, it sounds like you're pretty far along that path already, and thus may not see as much upside. But there won't necessarily be a downside for you either.

The whole point of this site is that we're not at the mercy of others. Knowledge is power. The people who will be fleeced are the uninformed, not the forewarned.

Is there a reason to believe that you fall into the more vulnerable segment of society? Remember that wealth gains and losses are meaningful principally in their relative values. I think it is hard to argue that an iTulip member will know less or be less prepared than the general population.

Very good reminder. And I think there is always some positive difference we can make.

I listened to an interview on NPR with Gene Simmons (Kiss). He came across as a completely rude and arrogant person, but something he said really stuck with me. His mother was a concentration camp survivor. Her motto was "every day above ground is a good day."

I forget where I read this, but apparently Latin Americans have the highest happiness levels of any continent.

It is certainly not because of good governance, equality, or fairness. But apparently the close family ties and friendships they cultivate out weigh everything else.

And they have lots of colorful birds!

Yeah, Tyrion is awesome. Haven't seen the shows, only read the books...

                      Watch/read Game of Thrones, Mike!

"When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it. Always.

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

Seconded. I'm just a lurker, but in such a dry often droll niche I've thoroughly enjoyed Mega's posts!!

                              Don't let the bastards win.

                              Keep the faith.

The world may at times be a shitty place, but it has ALWAYS at times been a shitty place, depending on which part of the world you were in.

Things have a way of swinging the pendulum too far to one side, and later over-correcting to the other.

Remember, the only thing you CAN count on in life is things WILL change, but not for the better if the likes of you give up.
