Actually, after reading the thread carefully, one member of GIM (Gold Is Money), "Agfinger" is extremely critical of Twisted Avatar's post.

I would even venture to say that Agfinger approaches metalman in terms of rebuttal horsepower.

So yeah, that thing was clear bogus. We can now move on, bury this thread in Rant & Rave or erase it altogether.

He Then proceeded to tell me a story from his Homeland( Albania) In 1967(?) there was a Terrible earthquake that leveled alot of the Country.

In the aftermath the Albanian Government gave each citizen Loans of 5 million Dinars at like 1% interest to rebuild easy terms.

This seems unlikely since the Albanian currency is Lek, not Dinar.

That was an unheard amount of money and alot of people refused but a good many took it. He said within 3 scant years on the incident 5 million Dinars could only buy a pack of smokes.

Again this doesn't seem likely. Albania actually experienced price decreases throughout the period from the 1960s to the early 1980s. http://www.photius.com/countries/alb...and_wages.html.

Just in case this fellow got confused and was actually from Yugoslavia (which also suffered from the same earthquake, does use Dinars as a currency, and did suffer from inflation in the late 1960s), it should be pointed out that inflation did not top 25% annually at any time during this period. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yugoslav_dinar.25% is obviously an unpleasant level of inflation, but hardly enough to take a substantial sum of money and turn it into a pack of smokes in three years.

ej increased his gold allocation to 30% from 15% because the usa econ is collapsing and with it tax revenues... that's long been part of the itulip case... that if tax receipts fall and the world is in recession so lending from pals of the usa stop and outlays increase because the oligarchs' pols don't wanna get tossed out of office by pissed off unemployed voters but won't pony up... instead ship their $$$ overseas... poom!

Odd, if you have been around for a while, you have come to see that many times truth is stranger than fiction.

I have no evidence that what TA posted is either true or false, but from the words in his original post you can deduce that what the alledged patient said is quite correct.

Also, there was in fact an earthquake in Albania in November of 1967.
