As a reservist, I'd say that the likelihood these Guardsmem will be issued ammunition for the drill is zero. In the Marine Reserves, we carried our weapons into the field for every drill, but we were never issued rounds, except at the rifle range. Most likely, they will be walking around with BFA's (blank-firing adapters) screwed into the barrels of their weapons. Full gear, perhaps (although they might not be issued SAPI plates), but not really combat-armed.

Of course that's what they are doing. Since when did the National Guard's duties involve door to door searches for criminals? Isn't that the job of the civilian police? It's outrageous.

That's what they told folks in New Orleans! ...Just before they took their guns & in some cases booted them out of their homes. Some of those homes were demolished, along with deeds &/or any paperwork which might have proven ownership.

        OR

Luther and Meredith Ricks? The Lima Ohio retired couple who lost $400K to bogus civil forfeiture & asset laws, because they had a small amount of pot in the house. Not bad enough that they were victims of an assault & attempted robbery.

Even if you're sqeaky clean now, there's no saying that draconian laws (such as prohibition of owning physical gold) won't be passed, making otherwise honest folks "criminals".

Posse Comitatus went out the window around the same time as Habeas Corpus. Patriot Acts I & II? The label "enemy-combatant" can & has been used to prosecute far more than the war on terror / militant-islamist terrorists

I feel secure and protected and coozy.

They may even find some terrorist, remember they hate us for our freedoms.

The national news outlet will report what their pimps in the government tell them too. I just finished watching a government spokesman on the NBC nightly news brush-off Santelli's mortgage bailout comments by saying that he didn't know what he was talking about and basically discrediting him as an idiot. We are about one step away from state run media.

If the government puts the army in our streets to enforce civil liberty infringements I predict conflict.

Alas, I disagree that there will be conflict. Only once people are unable to buy food, heat their homes, and so forth will there will be any form of civil dissent on a wide scale.

The State and the Media have been captured by Finance Capital, not the other way around. The State is their instrument, at least at the moment.

Historical moments can last for some time

Look at Operation Urban Warrior It has been around since the 1990s -- Jerry Brown allowed these people to use Oakland for one of their exercises in order to shore up the city treasury. Here are the videos from that exercise - with Alex Jones reporting

                  part-1 8 min

                  Part -2 -8 min

                  Part - 3 10 min

                    The best is

I read the first few post twice and kept asking myself why is everybody so upset about Antartica. Then I asked myself why are the Guardsmen going to Antartica. It wasn't until the third reading that the bulb went on.

How dumb am I. No replies are necessay.

P.S. What's all this I hear about violins on television?

I think I understand now. We policed up not to go after the terrorists but to reduce the freedoms that cause terrorists to hate us.

Exactly, a voice of sanity. After all we freely elect our representatives... the government just wants to help us. Just keep your hands where the soldiers can seem them, otherwise life is the same as it always has been.

                            A serious comment....

All the yuppie suburban commandos with their gun safes, NRA memberships, right-wing ideological baggage will hurriedly dump their guns in the street the first time a pickup full of freebooters pulls into their subdivision with a megaphone ordering them to do so.

                            Pathetic.

If they want some serious training bout this stuff, I could suggest some communities about the country that are 'owned' by gangs. Why not just select one of those...be advisable to issue ammunition too. van

i cant tell whether this story or some of the responses here are real.

i get the feeling that they are...if so this is so unbelieveable i cant even fathom it

we have legislated away more freedoms than i ever thought a nation would do, but to take it all the way to military preparing to search and arrest citizens is so incredible that it simply defies belief.

how could any soldier participate in such a drill? how could any citizen allow even the discussion of such a possibility? how could any government official contemplate such a thing?

the very idea is completely antithetical to the entire concept of the united states.
