What is it about autism that brings out the crazies in the medical field, both "mainstream" (this guy) and "alternative"?

for 40 years that psycho psychiatrist's view that autism was the mother's fault (for not bonding properly) held sway, now this shite has been going on for 10 years. Your kid needs special attention for their entire life, they'll never live a normal life, and mommy dearest, it's YOUR FAULT!!!!! How's that for a kick in the nads?

And let's not forget "facilitated kinesiology".

Spend time in a mathematics department at a good university and you will understand that autism isn't really an illness, it's just a different way of being.

The Times reported thing is only the most recent straw[1], and a straw that makes logical sense based on the way this stuff has played out.

the way this story's played out over the last couple of years, this conclusion makes total, complete sense.

Any possible link from the vaccines to autism is looking more and more doubtful.

Why should I believe the times?

I'm an agnostic on this topic, here in Germany there is not much talk about it,
at least I'm not aware of it.

I'm aware that it's a big issue in the US, but I'm not sure if it's subjective or if people realy see an increase. I have never met someone with autism.

German doctors are urging parents to immediately vaccinate their children with the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine to control a measles epidemic.

More than 420 children and teenagers have contracted measles, a highly contagious illness, during the past few weeks, The Times of London reported Thursday. The outbreak has forced the closing of several schools in the industrial Ruhr region.


Physicians are urging children be vaccinated with the MMR vaccine, despite fears of MMR side effects.

Official statistics suggest approximately 93 percent of German infants receive their first MMR shot that's usually given before two years of age. However, only about 66 percent receive the second required inoculation, The Times said.
