My nominee is a dictator who came to power through military prominence (and prowess), who elevated the political power of the ordinary citizens to serve as a check against the patrician oligarchy: Gaius Julius Caesar.

KY Lee is an impressive choice; however, although dynamic, powerful, and long-serving, I believe that he was elected to office as prime minister (similar to the Malaysian Prime Minister, Mohamed Mahathir). Wouldn't selection by the electorate be inconsistent with the notion of dictator?
