Many a long year ago, when I was a mere youth, there was great ridicule in Aus of natives in Papua new guinea who believed in the "Cargo Cult". They believed LBJ was going to fly over in a plane and drop out everything they needed.
This is essentially what all tehse mainsream economists and commentators (and Joe Public for that matter) now believe. I suppose they are a bit more modern, helicopters weren't as big on the horizon in the bad old days!
