Yes a golden age indeed. Don't forget Jackie Gleason and Audrey Meadows' HONEYMOONERS, launched in 1955! Arguably, America's crowning cultural achievement!

Well since you qualified it with "Arguably", I'll argue that America's crowning cultural (not to mention industrial design, manufacturing, and marketing brainwashing) achievement should be this  ...

I will take delivery of the "Biarritz" model, s'il vous plait. Where have you been "lazy bones 55"? Slacking off again eh? (like all those other Canadian socialist minded useless layabouts?).

Meanwhile ... global warming debunking has been single handedly commandeered by Starving Steve, who stands heroically alone on the bloody battlefield, bloody sabre in hand, bloody corpses and the groaning mortally wounded prone bodies of the "GLOBAL WARMING PROPONENTS" and the "ECO-FRAUDS" and the "MALIBU PRO-OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING BAN" star wannabes and starlet wannabes all strewn about picturesquely.

Whilst (as you Anglicized Anglo-Canadian factions like to spell it, pretending to be more English than the English - or was it more Scots than the Scots?) Starving Steve "takes no prisoners", fights like a Trojan Warrior standing down the marauding Persian hordes at the Bosporus, and valiantly argues the cause of "Global Warming Is a Sack of Pathetic Horseshit", you've probably been laying about like a useless Canadian couch-potato watching the telly or reading the Financial Times or something else useless like that, whilst picking listlessly over your increasingly worthless and now collapsing oil and gas share certificates.

What a valiant fighter for truth (and deliverance from Al Gore) ... I still haven't figured out if Starving Steve is Canadian or one of the mangy tribe south of the Canadian border (one of our'n). But that eccentric Englishman from Medstead, Chris Coles is craftily waiting to spring a trap for him somewhere. It's all very exciting, and laden with suspense ...

Check the avatar Luke. No couch time during these lazy, hazy days of summer I'm afraid. Personal research into wind source renewable [or if you prefer: clean, green, alternative...] energy motive power, combined with direct observations of global warming induced sea level changes in the Solent and the Ionian. It's enough to make a fella want to chuck it all, cancel his internet subscription and dump both the cell phone and laptop permanently overboard... Pics to follow if/when I get them resized to upload.

Enjoy, man. Would you mind if I lived vicariously through you?
