  • I'm not convinced that Snowden isn't an Al Qaeda sympathizer

So far, I only see terrorist organizations gaining from his actions since the NSA is targeted at searching for terrorist and criminals. I'm not convinced that Snowden isn't an Al Qaeda sympathizer.

Snowden has to prove that he is not an Al Qaeda sympathizer or operative.

Really? And what would be enough to convince you?

Forgive the snark, but I don't feel well and the credulity of folks on this matter is starting to frustrate me. Respectfully, please consider a look at James Bamford's Shadow Factory. Here's a review in case you don't have the time. You don't need security clearance or an asylum request to know what Snowden and the Guardian have. All you needed was $30 and an Amazon account in 2008 to buy Bamford's book.

Snowden is likely a do-gooder who miscalculated. If he's an operative, he's one of ours even if he isn't entirely aware of it.

Really? He's guilty until proven innocent? He's a terrorist until proven otherwise?

Prove you're not a terrorist. GO.

        Among other things.

          Based upon what?

Are you serious? Have you ever read the Constitution of the United States? A history of Common Law?

God help us if a large number of our fellow citizens ever begin to think this way.

Snowden fled to China, a country that terrorizes it's own citizens.

If Snowden were a real human rights activist, he would not have gone to China.

But it turned out that going to China was a really bad move. Why should China protect the rights of Snowdon?

I would presume that just like 98% of the people here, he would have thought that the West were the bad guys and China was the really nice guy.

Thus goes the saying "The grass is always greener on the other side" or is it the "Enemy of my enemy is my friend"?

Since this is Rant and Rave I'll ask this question: are you a troll, or just an ignoramus of the first order?

I'm stating the fact. There's a Chinese proverb, Paper can't wrap up a fire.

There's a lot of propaganda going on in the media on both sides. Most propaganda focused on China being the oppressed and feeble country which is true for the last 350 years or so - the history of China goes further than than, and omits the fact that China is an empire and probably one of the last empires still standing today.

This, IMO, seems pretty insulting to the iTulip community, like something a troll would do to generate negative attention:

I would presume that just like 98% of the people here, he would have thought that the West were the bad guys and China was the really nice guy.
I don't know anybody who thinks that, much less anybody here.

                    Presume much?

"Here" for touchring is, as I understand it, somewhere in Asia. Perhaps Singapore? I'm fairly certain he does not mean here as in the iTulip community. Heck, even most of the ignorant masses in the USA see China as a country not to be trusted.

That makes a lot more sense and puts touchring's statement in an entirely different light. I hope he will accept my apology for the misunderstanding.

                          That's what I assumed also.

I'm taking a global perspective, by "Here", I'm referring to everything else, not specifically Singapore. And by the way, that includes Snowden - that's why he went to HK with his 3 laptops. ;)

The anarchists know better, they distrust all governments.

I'm sorry if I offended you.
