But I know it's going to happen because the problem is not solved, the fanatics are still around. In fact, the situation has worsened as we have seen from the Libyan embassy tragedy and what happens in Syria.
Once again you have contradicted yourself.

You won't guess, but you know?

There was a CIA briefing, given to President Bush on August 6, 2001, entitled "Bin Laden determined to Strike in U.S."

The idea that 9/11 was an unpredictable event is simply not true. Not only was it predictable, it was, in fact, predicted!

The fact that that administration was too clueless to do anything about it until after the fact is an issue that is separate from predictability.

Yes, of course, that's why I didn't say "I won't want to live in Tel Aviv after 2020" because for some reason, politicians in the US are either very complacent or pretend that issues don't exist.

I would guess that not living in a city like NY would substantially improve your odds of not dying in a terrorist incident. Not that this is a good enough reason to move, but it might still improve your odds if you moved to say, Booger Holler TN. Of course then your odds of suicide might increase. Damn. There's always a catch.

Yeah, I would absolutely risk a terrorist attack to enjoy a mecca of world culture like NYC. There are too many ways and too many seconds in the day in which to die in to worry about something like terrorism.

What touchring is saying isn't really much a contradiction. Perhaps in some semantics it would be, but it seems to me that touchring is making it clear that there is no clarity on this situation, and no specifics can be provided on what will take place. Just a general feeling of "don't be in big, important, or symbolic cities." That sounds perfectly reasonable to me, especially since New York City has been the target of al Qaeda multiple times, and our policy has effectively been to recruit for al Qaeda as hard as we possibly can.

Well if you ask some nutjobs, they will tell you that Bush intentionally did nothing in order to make it happen. Or maybe they'll just say inside job and some kooky theory about silent explosives or megalasers (no joke, those are the main two competing "theories" for how the towers fell according to nutjobs).

Yes, the policies are contradictory. You try to go after Al Qaeda's Osama Bin Laden, on the other hand, you indirectly back Al Qaeda in Syria in the name of democracy. Now Al Qaeda is thriving in Syria because Al Qaeda is helping the Syrian people while the West abandons them.

On one hand you withdraw from the Middle East, on the other hand, you do not reduce your over-dependency on gasoline.

This is like trying to have the cake and eat it too.

It appears to me that the policies for the past 4 years are for personal glorification - to prove that he indeed deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. This is very dangerous because personal and national interests are not alway in line with each other.

That's the reason for my thread.
