Obama is scared of the Persians and he is betting that Israel would not go ahead without the US.
This is a huge bet that will affect his chance of being re-elected.
If his bet fails, Obama is responsible for starting a new war in the Middle East and bring harm to US troops and interest in the Middle East and start an economic depression.
Is he right? I don't know either, but time will tell.

Iran planning to attack U.S. warships in the Persian Gulf
September 7, 2012
By: Robert Tilford
A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said the US navy is deeply fearful of Iran's naval power in the Persian Gulf, and added that Iran will not leave the US warships undamaged in case of a military move against the country.
"I assure you that if the US warships do a foolish action, they won't leave the area (regional waters) unhurt," Commander of the IRGC Navy Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi said in a gathering in Iran's Northeastern holy city of Mashhad on Wednesday (see article: Commander: Iran Fully Capable of Targeting, Destroying US Warships http://english.farsnews.com/newstext.php?nn=9106061850 ).
This article is the first to suggest the Iranian will target U.S. warships specifically.
This seems consistent with statement made by Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari a few days ago who said: “We monitor all the movements of US warships and have intelligence command over their activities.”
Location: Tehran, Iran

“The presence of the US warships in the free waters of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman is in accordance with international law and we have not allowed the US to enter our territorial waters,” the Iranian commander added (see article: US warships in Persian Gulf under Iran Navy watch: Cmdr. http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2012/09...an-navy-watch/ ).
One Iranian General warned the U.S. recently “don’t you even think about attacking Iran” (see: http://www.examiner.com/article/iran...attacking-iran ).
Iran is also bolstering its military in preparation for an attack that can come from any direction.
Iran is also tripling its fleet of mini–submarines and producing more sea mines http://www.examiner.com/article/iran...re-sea-mines-1
Iran is targeting medium and long range missiles at U.S. military bases in neighboring countries, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain (see article: Iran will target 35 U.S. bases within minutes of any attack http://www.examiner.com/article/iran...-of-any-attack ).
Iran is upgrading its air force capabilities (see article: Iran upgrades its MiG 29 fighter jets with modern electronics http://www.examiner.com/article/iran...ign-right-next ).
We know that Iran remains on the highest possible alert for an impending U.S. attack (http://www.examiner.com/article/iran...ry-from-attack ).
