  • 20 reasons for Eduardo Saverin to move to Singapore.

    Business

    1. Singapore has one of the lowest corporate tax rates in the world for a major financial center - only 8% for income of up to S$300K and 17% beyond - http://www.guidemesingapore.com/taxa...pore-tax-rates

Startup companies enjoy tax waivers for the first S$100,000 income for the first three years. There are additional tax incentives and even grants for medical and technology sector companies - http://www.edb.gov.sg/edb/sg/en_uk/i...ssistance.html

    2. Singapore has one of the lowest personal income tax rates for long term residents - http://www.guidemesingapore.com/taxa...pore-tax-rates

    3. Singapore has no minimum wage. You can hire domestic servants to do your housework for $400 a month.

    4. Private trade unions and strikes not sanctioned by government controlled trade unions are illegal so you won't have trouble with your workers.

    5. Singapore has NO estate duty or death tax - in other words, no one will know your assets forever.

    6. Singapore has no capital gains tax.

    7. Singapore has very low property tax that is only about 0.1% of the value of your property if you live in it.

    8. Singapore does not tax residents for dividends.

    9. You can hire anyone with a mainstream college certificate from any part of the world to work in your company in Singapore because work passes are easy to get.

    10. Singapore does not question the source of your money as long as you keep clear of terrorism and politics.

    Politics

    11. Singapore is politically very stable. There is effectively only one political party in power, the Peoples' Action Party which had been in power since 1959.

    12. Singapore is NOT part of China and about 3 hours flight away, so unlike Hong Kong, so there's no political risk of China going to war with the US or with any country over the South China Sea Spratly islands.

    13. Unlike Hong Kong, Singapore does not suffer from pollution that drifts over from China so your family is safe.

    Lifestyle

    14. There are no sandstorms, hurricane, typhoon, major floods and earthquakes in Singapore.

    15. Half the people are foreigners, there are plenty of young single women all nationalities (predominantly Asians and Whites, sorry, few Blacks) working in Singapore and often living alone.

    16. Prostitution is legal. Unlike the US (and also China) you won't appear in the papers for being found visiting a prostitute as long as she or he is not under-aged.

    17. Singapore is one of the safest cities in the world, even for single women - http://blog.hostelbookers.com/top-ci...ies-for-women/

    18. Singapore has very strict laws, civilians cannot own firearms and kidnappers risk capital punishment, so Eduardo can walk and even sleep on the streets without fear of being abducted.

    19. Unlike Greece, there is no risk of getting hurt in a demonstration in Singapore because all caused related outdoor activities require a police permit.

    20. Although not a tropical paradise, Singapore is very close to pristine tropical beach resorts in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand.

BUT it's a damn expensive place to live.

And don't spin on the sidewalk or you may be caned for it.

In life, you can't have your cake and eat it too. If Saverin wants to live in a place where there is no risk of being kidnapped, he must know that place has severe laws to prevent crime.

Caning is a culture in Singapore. Caning starts at school.
