  • How To Search?

Maybe this is just me, but it seems really hard to use the search feature here. If there is any Help section, it's well hidden. My question is: I want to find a post by User X containing Term Y. I go to the Advanced Search facility, select Posts, enter the search term and user name, and am presented with what is apparently a list of threads. Now what? The results list contains numerous posts, narrowing the field to probably seven thousand words posted by User X. Where is my search term? Any way to at least winnow it down to posts containing it?

    Any suggestions?

A google search, like this might help:

    site:itulip.com Finster platinum

But, it is tough searching this site with the built-in search engine.

But, that will not get you the stuff behind the pay wall.

I tried to spider the site once, but the links are not conducive to spidering. They contain infinitely recursive links. If I develop sufficient enthusiasm I might have another go at it, but it looks like a big job.

Thanks, A. I bet I'm not the only one to see at least a modicum of absurdity in searching the entire Internet to find a post one already knows is in iTulip. Even if it were in an accessible area. If you dropped your wedding ring under the sofa, to retrieve it would you start by searching all of Boston?

I've tried the internal search function many times and just given it up.
Tried it again just a couple weeks ago to find an old Metalman post of which I remembered a couple key words.
Results as you describe. The google approach failed for me as well.

As I recall, pythonic cow said its the basic software used to build the site, not so hot for internal searching.
