  • It’s new, it’s disgusting! And it fooled an oil industry group

Sometimes you can’t make it up any weirder than it actually is. That definitely was the case on June 14, when a pair of environmental pranksters managed to promote themselves as keynote speakers at the Gas and Oil Exposition – aka GO-EXPO 2007 – in Calgary.calgary1.jpg

Masquerading as officials from ExxonMobil and the U.S. National Petroleum Council, the two appeared before an oil industry audience and the buzz was that they would deliver long-awaited conclusions of a study commissioned by U.S. Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman.

They actually offered something a bit more revolutionary: a new fuel called Vivoleum, to be used in the event of a global climate calamity and made “by transforming the billions of people who die into oil.”

Actually that is not all that far fetched. Look at the thermodepolymerization technology -- It is currently in pilot plant stages.

      It’s not an incinerator.

      It’s not a furnace.

What it is, to paraphrase a line from an old Andy Griffith comedy routine, is a thermal chemical biorefinery.

To put it in simple terms, you can put almost any type of waste or biomass in the Noah biorefinery, and it produces a mostly hydrogen gas — without pollution of any kind and with very little ash, according to its inventor, Mike Rogers of El Dorado.

Power Reclamation, Inc., is the inventor, developer, and manufacturer of the patent-pending Noah™ unit for stationary or portable automated conversion of biomass into a clean-burning combustible fuel gas.

What was that movie from the late 1960's - SOYLENT GREEN - with Charlton Heston. In the end he discovered in this world of the "near future" that the old folks were being shipped off to be turned into protein crackers.

Of course it's all sensationalist nonsense and could never happen, because mankind has a spark of God in him and ultimately "always does the right thing" ... (?)

How bleak do you want to get?

Russia stakes its claim on North Pole in underwater search for oil undefined

            Tony Halpin in Moscow

Russia is making an audacious grab for the vast energy riches of the Arctic with an underwater mission to plant its flag beneath the North Pole.

A team of explorers plans to descend 4,300 metres (1,400ft) to the seabed in a miniature submarine tomorrow to stake Russia’s claim to an area of ocean the size of Western Europe. The polar expedition aims to prove that the Lomonosov Ridge, an underwater shelf that runs through the Arctic, is an extension of Russian territory.

I can't believe they sill get away with that, then again, maybe I'm the only one who watched the movie :/

              I thought it as hilarious.
