Oh well, your post there is sig-worthy.
Dude take a valium bro. I am not sure why this is so much of a tizzy for you. I mean most forums are full of crap -check out any sports forum or car forum or news forum. I mean you act like a forum virgin or something. You need to get more -of the house and off the site. There are LOTS of forums full of $hit all the time.

When all you're offered is chickenshit (Mega's threads), it's all I have. His spam is half of what's on the front page of the News forum. I suppose I should just leave this site and not recommend it to everyone as it offers nothing regarding the world financial crisis and instead talks about what an awful evil country the posters live in. I find it an atrocity that there was absolutely nothing on this forum regarding the Eurozone periphery financial problems in Greece and Spain up until a couple weeks ago (and it's not like this is some minor event, it has a lot to deal with the overall thesis that this website sells to the outside world), and yet every other thread is Mega being a Rush Limbaugh/Keith Olbermann type posting a misleading article and stating "AMERICAN DOOM! THE EMPIRE WILL FALL!" which he has been doing for two years. Where Fred states "we are more strict about pertinence, basing assertions on fact, and so forth, in the subscriber area", it's pretty much stating the unwashed masses that populate our free forums are full of the idiots, we don't care what they write or whether it's good discussion. Hey, if they don't care about their own product, that's their business I guess.

Cow: Given your excellent sleuthing regarding the "search" feature, I think you are just the right bovine to be testing my theory that the "ignore list" feature ignores four letter user names [like "Mega"]...;)

What other possible explanation could there be, eh...

Well, I'm not sure if this query is tongue in cheek or not, but as is my habit, I tend to answer such questions straight up.

I added "Mega" to my ignore list to test your theory, and it works just fine. Here is a screen shot of Mega's opening post in this thread, now that I am ignoring him:

Note though the option on the top right to "View Post", enabling one to selectively expand ignored posts.

I shall now restore Mega to his rightful place on list of iTulip contributors whose posts I enjoy reading.

My depth of ignorance is phenomenal. I enjoy getting as much education and as varied as I can from as many sources as I can. Don't much care if it's presented on a silver platter or a paper plate as long as it's nourishing and tasty. I like Mega's spicing. Like it even more now that I have a daughter and grandson that will reside in Europe most of their lives. Prefer the sweetness of a plump melon than the grapes of wrath.

Isn't that pretty much the way the World works? People PAY to live in nicer neighborhoods, private schools, clubs, etc, so they don't have to put up with the "steerage" as Mega puts it.

public forum model... gov't pays for hosting, moderation by community volunteers.

private forum model... private corp. pays for hosting, moderation by paid employees, members supply input.

hybrid forum model... private corp. pays for hosting, moderation by community volunteers.

itulip has 1 hybrid model (free) forum & 1 private model (paid) forum.

think public $$$ financed pool vs neighborhood fees $$$ financed pool, public vs private health club, etc.

some want it both ways... privately financed but available to the public for free? yeh, yeh. that's called socialism.

then there's the usa insurance/banking industry model... publicly financed yet enjoyed by the few. that's called oligarchy.

if itulip got $$$ from the gov't to pay for the select research/forums/etc. won't the itulip crew to go into public servant mode...

To each his own I guess. I enjoy eating steaks. Some people enjoy eating chickenshit. If you think Mega is a good poster, I suggest you read the financial news section in the Daily Mail, Sun, and News of the World. Dear God, what's the reason you come to this forum? It's to get analysis of financial news and discuss them, right? When has he ever done that and actually been straightforward on what he's discussing? Most of us on this website are outside the political mainstream, so for people to say he's a good poster is a bit like a person saying they hate bankers for their predatory tactics on borrowers and that's why they prefer owing money to the mafia. Or "I don't watch college basketball because the standard of play is too low, that's why I watch high school instead."

fine. so raise the standard. post material to news often. comment on it. who's stopping you? stop whining. while you're at it, get rid of that sig. it's ungracious... reflects poorly on you.

There's no need to fret about my ignore list, good sir. I can move people onto it as easily as I can move them off.
