  • Today I heard the second stupidest thing I ever heard a reporter say

I was listening to a major AM news station today. They were reporting how Chicago had lost out getting the Summer Olympics. One of the reporters was kind of incensed about it and blurted 'don't they know when it is summer in the U.S. it is winter in Rio? How are going to feel about having the Summer Olympics in all that cold??'

So what's the stupidest thing I ever heard? It was during live reporting of the 9/11 WTC plane attacks. The reporter said "Obviously they're having some kind of problem at the airport air traffic control towers- they keep directing planes to fly into the buildings."

He can't predict the future, but according to WIKI even a record low is still manageable

The minimum temperature recorded was 4.8°C (40°F) in July 1928

The US public education system seems to have degraded to absurdly abysmal levels.

Sydney, Australia hosted the "summer" Olympics in 2000. The opening ceremony was on September 15 and the games closed on October 1...not exactly the peak of summer in either the Northern or Southern hemispheres...but pretty reasonable climatic conditions for the athletes and the spectators.

reporters and science. feh. I've never heard a decent report from lay reporters. The CBC and the US's PBS and NPR have had a few.

(I think this is an allegory & satire of the vaccine/autism scare)

While it's pushing it a little, I wouldnt categorize this as stupid as it is technically correct.

Perhaps he was throwing in a little sarcasm?
