Re: Just Fu*king insane...Am spechless
CRAAAZY!
Now, how do I borrow Swedish currency while getting paid to do so? In addition, I'd like to take that borrowed currency and buy physical gold. Any thoughts on how to go about this in a cost effective procedure? Any ideas are much appreciated.

Savers can only convert to cash. CBs are not that stupid (only websites in need for attention are).

Right. The Swedish CB lowered its interest rate a 1/4 point to .25 NOT -.25.

See last paragraph of link;
The minutes from the Executive Board’s monetary policy discussion will be published on 16 July. The decision on the repo rate will apply with effect from Wednesday, 8 July. The deposit rate is at the same time cut to -0.25 per cent and the lending rate to 0.75 per cent. A press conference with Deputy Governor Barbro Wickman-Parak and Anders Vredin, Head of the Monetary Policy Department, will be held today at 11 a.m. in the Riksbank. Entry via the bank's main entrance, Brunkebergstorg 11. Press cards must be shown. The press conference will be broadcast live on the Riksbank’s website,

Actually, I know how:
"Stamp" the fiat money each year and reduce its nominal amount each time, while the non-stamped money is not "legal". (ex: a $10 bill becomes stamped at $9.75 but legal and so on).
Well, that my friends will have people rushing into PMs as fast as you can say POOM!
Again, I cannot believe they can enforce a minus deposit rate unless they do the above and a lot more stupid things like this I cannot imagine. We are not there. It is only in Mike's mind.
This is a little storm in a water glass or whatever is the expression.

i don't know if its a question of gullibility, I'm just thinking if i'd prefer to have cash sitting in the bank earning minus 0.25 or under the mattress. I never thought people would be so gullible to trust hank Paulson, but apparantly desperate times call for desperate measures.

vs.
How many people know [will learn] that if you put your savings at the bank and then get less at the end of the year?
I repeat; this scheme cannot be enforced in 2009 in Sweden.

This news article says they cut to .25 per cent. Seems that Mish erred.
