I think we're going to go through another big wave of fear like we did last fall and what few people who are left that can afford to spend, will stop. The government can save the big banks but they can't save all these little ones. When people see all these banks failing, they're going to get scared. I think gold will go down in price along with everything else.

Then one day, people will realize production has been cut so low, that there isn't enough for everyone. That's when the real fun will start and gold, along with most commidities will go up. I don't think that day will arrive for at least 6-12 months.

The problems are going to start at the state and local levels. Look at California. They are hopelessly broke. When the checks don't arrive and services are halted, then we'll see some fun. Could snowball throughout the US. When the real impact of state and local budget shortfalls become apparent, that is when "something" will happen. Its always takes time between when the problem is apparent to authorities and when they finally have to deal with it. I can't see them making it to 2010, so I'm going to call "something happening" by October-November.

I'll remain very wary just before the elections in Germany this fall.
