I still think something doesn't add up about this story. Yeah sure, they said its Mafia counterfeiting and end of story right? That makes about as much sense as trying to cash one of those phony million dollar bills. Nobody is falling for a fake billion dollar bond. So I think there is more to the story, but I have no idea what it is.
