A statement I think that resonates with many here
"that each simple substance has relations which express all the others"

That's actually "antediluvian," my good man. My wife wanted a definition of the word, so I looked it up and discovered the spelling. . ."Before the Flood," ancient, archaic, etc.

My record collection mostly ends in the late 1960's or early 1970's. Most anything since then sounds like noise to my ears.

May you too live long and prosper and get to have fun annoying the young ones with your anti-diluvian tastes in music .

            Right you are - thanks.
Most folks are good; a few aren't.

One of the best songs ever done of course but jeez... have we reached this point? If you play "Dust in the Wind" I don't know what I'll do...
Olive - why all this fear, survival and scampering stuff? The topic of the song of course (and of DITW) is not tragedy or despair or suicide, but that death is part of life. We haven't "reached" that point... we've always been there, although we sometimes refuse to see. It doesn't diminish the meaning of our lives. And if it's TEOTWAWKI you are worried about, try to remember that eternal economic and population growth was never possible on a finite planet, and beyond securing our basic needs, money doesn't make us happier anyway. You know all this, I hope... Most of us here want to ensure that our loved ones' basic needs are taken care of in an uncertain future, but let's not forget to love the ones we're with, and live our lives now.

Words from one "doomer" to another, I suspect.

I seem to recall Stephen King citing "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" as one of the things that inspired him to write The Stand.
