The tactics being used make perfect sense at this point. People who claim all the reaction from cdc, who and all is hype would not want to live in a world without those institutions and their "agendas."

As far as tin foil goes, it seems a lot of bad juju from Mexico. The rational part makes me think that bad news with flu and narco-terrorism are the results of a badly run state. But then I wonder if some people have a a goal of using crisis to expand a north american union (I know there is no Amero in the works). And the crazy part of me thinks, this is a great place to start culling the herd.

Unfortunately we've gotten to a state in this country where you really can't trust those in authority or the press to shoot straight and give us the real scoop. I'm a little skeptical of the whole thing, but when I read about healthy people dying from it, that gives me a bit of a scare. These things do tend to run wild once they hit the press.

I'd like to hear more details on it: what are the symptoms, how fast it strikes, who it strikes, etc before I run to the bunker. And yes I'm sure its on one of the many links I saw above, I'm just too tired to read them all right now.

I will say, if this thing is serious, we should cancel schools now and not wait another few weeks or so when the regular season ends. Schools are notorious for spreading disease.

Okay more conspiracy theories. If you want to fight the drug lords, changing search and seizure rules to fight flu is a good one. Or, if you want to keep the boarders a little tighter in a bad economic time, a flu pandemic is handy. Any old flu and a few deaths can make a whole lot of panic with the right news stories.

How do you know what is real or not anymore?

As a parent you think, "do I keep them home this week." Oh, just a bunch of hype. And then it turns out to be the real deal?

Yeah, but then I never take any of the advice that I receive. I listen to it intently and solicit it very chance I get, but there are usually logical flaws big enough to drive a truck through so I end up doing the opposite.

(Listening to Luke about this being the beginning of the Green Bubble would be just one example.)

I took my 300+% alt E profits in the first 4 months of this year (uranium mostly) and "saved" all the proceeds (in gold and silver bullion, of course). I'd rec that everyone do likewise. Every one is seeing vast outperformance in the Alt_e sphere realative to a 25% rally in the broad equity markets. Well, you remember what happened to Alt-E and Uranium in paticular that last time the broad markets sold off? (I sure do, and have the hole in my brokerage account to prove it).

I DO think this is the end of DE-leveraging in the Alt-E sphere, no more forced liquidations, does that make it a bull market? NOT sure, but I think not until we see a sustained oil price rise AND a carbon cap-and-trade system in place. If oil pulls back, the blowback in alt-e is gonna be a killer!

(sure same for gold, but at least I can PAWN gold);)

I read somewhere Obama had met a man who died the next day from a flu like illness. Is that story true?? Sounds unbelievable. If it is true, should we suspect a bio-terror attempt on his life? I mean, what's the odds? Maybe a few hundred cases by that time and one who died met the president the day before! I've gotta go out and get some more tin foil.

Why are the deaths so far only in Mexico???

My great grandfather died from the flu pandemic of 1918. He got it on the train from Chicago to Minneapolis.

I heard that one too. Weird. Am I crazy or is the world crazy. Makes for a good novel. A bio-terror assassination attempt unleashes a global plague. Stone meets "Outbreak" times Bourne.

On behalf of the Jujus across the world, I accept your apology.

                            From Reuters.

"Eight schoolchildren in New York were confirmed as having caught the swine flu virus, although like other cases reported outside Mexico they were relatively mild."

How does this make sense. Are they different strains? Is healthcare so much worse that you get a high mortality in Mexico? Wouldn't that always be the case in Mexico and if it were, wouldn't the statistic be obvious? Something doesn't add up.

                                That's the one, thanks.

You'd think if Obama shook hands with the guy they'd be real interested in confirming exactly what the man died of. Think Obama is Tamiflu-loading right now?
