    Re: BS or Not?

Alt energy bubble is taking it's tiniest baby steps right now IMO. Look back in six months and see if November 08 and March 09 carved out the bottom for alt-energy, and what kind of uptrend they are describing by then, for a validation of this idea. I'll bet anyone a nice shiny 2006 mint silver eagle I'm right within 12 months. The whole sector must show a clear uptrend from November 08 or March of 09, by April of 2010. When that segment starts to percolate it will leave gold behind like gold was on a poky horse and buggy, and not just for a six month or one year journey. That bandwagon is good for four or five years of percolating. Nothing wrong with parking a little spare change money in it. Of course, gold is not an investment - it is insurance, so these two asset classes will be behaving just as they should in that eventuality.

I can't offer any insight or maybe I mean encouragement with regard to Alt-E companies as I see more price pressure over the rest of the year and it's going to be difficult for almost all manufacturers and other components of the supply chain. If it means anything, I'm not investing here. But we shouldn't minimize our location on the RE exponential curve. **Non political statement ahead iTulip people** When the US elected Obama, it signaled the beginning of the exponential RE ramp up. Like it or not, the deficit funded printing press is driving bags of cash into RE.

I attended a meeting this morning with USDA Rural Development. They have a mountain of cash coming in and held the meeting to let everyone in our dirt bound state know how to best support their programs with well designed, well documented projects.

It's coming, this RE investment bonanza, but not right now. Now is the time for the pretenders to fall out or more acurately, be pushed out. The US is about to retake the lead in RE. It may take a couple of years, but it's coming. Some time after that RE investing will make a lot of sense. For now, it's all happening in the trenches.

What's "RE"? (Sorry if it's above somewhere -- I didn't read all this thread.)

Somehow that doesn't sound like the way to get the lead.

Well ... maybe the lead on money spent. But the good stuff that yields long term investment opportunity and long term productive benefit or technological advance to society doesn't come from projects born out of providing government bureaucrats with the paperwork and statistics they need to justify their existence.

The "force field" of incentives and survival conditions that affect a project early in its life are essential to determining the long term health, direction and impact of that project. "We're here from the government and we're here to fund ..." is not a good start.
