When I was attending my CHL class, I lady who was in the class with us was mortified to hear that she couldn't use her laser sight during the course of fire (not that you could SEE IT outdoors in daylight, but I digress). Point is, she barely passed using the iron sights in a controlled enviornment shooting from 3-15 yards. It was funny to see all of us that had institutional firearms training (military or police), centermass baby (aside from the head shots for fun, that is).

Who is swallowing up all the ammo?

Me and mini-me just returned from Cabelas, the one north of Fort Worth. Been there many times since they opened, they usually have enough shells and ammo, that, if the quantity of boxes were hundred dollar bills, would be enough to burn a wet mule.

That being established, the ammo shelves were less than half stocked today. I asked an attendant, he said they still recieve shipments timely as always, but its been leaving faster and faster over the past month or so.

Oh, the gun section was swarming with activity, reminded me of a kmart blue light special kinda thing.

Ha! Exactly what I saw yesterday at the Cabela's outside Austin. In fact they had a sign on the door at the entrance stating the shortage of certain bullets - .45 and 9mm if I recall correctly.

There were 10x as many people around their gun section as in the fishing section. Guess everyone is planning on eating deer instead of fish when Armageddon arrives.

I would encourage you to seek out a local gun club or local firearms classes for some tuition on safe handling and application....plus it's fun.

I'd suggest maybe a 3-gun club(pistol, long-rifle, shotgun) that focuses on safety and practical use.

          Good luck with it.
No surprise that the gun owners are the first to preach safety and responsibility. Thanks for the tips.
