Nothing wrong with that - and I'm all for the partisan politics. Just stop pretending it's a grassroots movement based on some philosophically pure position.
We can all stop pretending those people at the rallies give a rats @#$ about what any PR firm or anyone in Washington DC tells them. Santelli rocks!

They voted Reps out of the Senate. They voted Reps out of the House. They voted Reps out of numerous governorships. They were calling their representatives at 100-1 ratios against the banker bailout. They were ignored then. Their tea parties are ignored now.

True, there are some of these folks who were dupes of Bush, just like the Dem dupes who are now suddenly unconcerned about the wars, secret imprisonment, domestic spying, etc. which were intolerable to them only three months ago. There are plenty of party drones to go around.

But there are still some actual people left, and maybe the ranks of non-drones are growing.

Not when Fox News goes all in with free PR support 24/7 for this carefully orchestrated event we can't.

Don't get me wrong... I admire the Republicans' ability to do this sort of thing - buy a network, create partisan think tanks, cultivate friendly media outlets to publish partisan talking points as 'news.' They've been very good at it.

You do realize that you are using the partisan talking points (the tea parties are just corporate shills) that Dem spokesmen and think tanks have been touting on their friendly media outlets as "news", right?

6 months ago I suspect a lot of these people were at their jobs. It was, after all, held on a Wednesday. I'd have gone too if I weren't at work.

I would hope so as WDCROB previously said, "I'm all for the partisan politics".

I'm one of "these folks" and I objected strenuously to Bush's big spending all through his administration. The fact that Bush was a big spender does not excuse Obama's mega-spending plans.

And if we're going to talk partisan politics and responsibility, let's keep in mind that since 1961 there have only been four years (2002-2006) when the Republicans controlled the Presidency, House, and Senate, and even then it was without the supermajority needed to overcome filibusters. In those 48 years the Democrats have controlled Congress the vast majority of the time, usually both houses. This problem was not caused by what the remarkably timid and yet fiscally irresponsible Republicans did between 2002 and 2006.

And I don't recall Democrats objecting to Bush spending a lot of money on increased educational and prescription drug entitlements that swelled the deficit. In fact if I recall correctly, they wanted to spend a lot more.

So spare us the lectures about fiscally irresponsibility. That's not just the pot calling the kettle black, that's a a great big massive air-craft-carrier-kitchen-style cooking vat calling the kettle black.

Yes, when CNN leads the smear campain against the people, we can. OTOH, I understand CNN perfectly well, Fox News is their competitor.

Besides, complaining about "the rich" supporting the tea parties, like MSM does all the time, is really cute. They did not complain about the likes of Warren Buffett, Soros and the Hollywood moguls supporting truthers, moroners (I mean, moveoners) and other nutcakes. They spent years of air time attacking Bush's war in Iraq. Where is their outrage now? Are they going to attack Obama for staying there and expanding the war in Afghanistan? (Hint: they are not).

Since we are a long, long way from a legitimate 3rd party threat to the entrenched two party system, let's fight for some small victories now. I'd like input on your ideas, but my first idea would be strict term limits. Too many polititcians are drawn to public service as a career rather than as "public service". Let's get a constitutional amendment on the ballot for strict term limits. What do you think about this idea and what other ideas do you have?
                    Thanks for your support.

I'm not crazy about the idea of term limits. Although they do provide an way to bring in new blood you still have the problem of lobbyists and campaign money exercising too much control.

Off hand, I'd just say a more strict interpretation of the constitution would be good for starters. Hard for a politician to run on that platform, though. The problem is most of the American people don't understand what the Constitution is about. Just the opposite, they are perfectly happy with an ever more interventionist federal government. Classic tyranny of the majority.

I'd like to see more state legislatures demanding the Feds follow the 10th amendment, making that a larger political movement.

This is starting already. Montana (gun freedom), Texas, Oklahoma. It's a promising trend.

File this under "cable news static" and let's see is this thing still has a pulse in 6 months.

And remember....you can't teabag Washington without a Dick Armey.

Santelli is on CNBC and therefore a twit.

I think it is time someone begins pushing back on the feds.

The problem is the entire social, economic and political system is so dependent on the federal government that a full implementation of the 10th amendment would have lots of unforeseen and distasteful consequences.

not saying we shouldn't do it, just be aware of what we are asking for.
