I gave up trying to understand this guy when he said that you would be better off to not be armed when an armed intruder breaks into your house.

With regard to Oslo he's probably right. The closest anyone in Norway has ever come to an 'armed intruder' is a short US video showing a convenience store stick-up. It's easy to intellectualize that situation if you've never seen the working end of a Glock. Unfortunately, gun violence isn't so abstract in the US and we have to be more prepared for it.
