Economy may contribute to rise in family violence

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Some hospitals report seeing more than twice as many shaken babies as a year ago. Deaths from domestic violence have increased sharply in some areas.

Calls to domestic-violence hotlines have risen too, and more than half the callers said their families' financial situation has changed recently.

    Re: Family Violence

My wife is a psychologist and she tells me she is seeing tons of this stuff from her clients as a result of the current economic situation. The first time I noticed a marked change in some of the stories she told me is when she says "this family home I go to has surveillance cameras in the front". Being from NYC I tell her "don't go there at night and limit the time you are at their home". Naturally she wondered why I said what I said to which I told her, well they are either selling drugs or they are selling drugs. Usually that's a tell, tell sign of cocaine dealers, at least that's how it was in the city. Long gone are the days of "look outs" . Why use some person who could screw up when you have sophisticated camera systems to do the job. Well a few months later the client confided in her that they were bringing coke in from the Caribbean (why they would admit this is beyond me). Funny thing is, this is one of Fort Lauderdale's most "prestigious" neighborhoods. Point being, with bad times comes frusrtation and desperate measures.

I suggest you go have a few beers with Lukester, Nero and that Symbols guy instead of dwelling on all this negative stuff. After all, the recession is already over. CNBC said so. Everything is going to be fine.

After a 20+ year Ponzi scheme in which we amassed unprecedented profligate debt burdens that can never be payed back in today's dollars, it only took us one year to rectify everything.
And exactly why would CNBC lie to us? I mean they're on TV for heaven's sake. I watch the show whenever I can. Those suits must cost at least a $1000 a piece. And I think that Cavuto guy had on a Rolex too.

Trust me, these guys know what they're talking about. Everything is going to be fine. All is well.

          LOL.

But seriously, CNBC has it right. When you survey the situation from the center of the universe [the corner of Wall and Broad in NYNY] the "depression" ended the moment the Administration backed away from doing anything about the past bonuses at AIG et al. The "recession" will end as soon as the TARPies can go back to paying bonuses in the future. I give it 6 months...tops.

          What's not to like...
