  • Government Vacations For All

When we go on summer vacation, we used to spend a large fraction of our year's worth of disposable income. Cottages, tourist attractions, ice cream parlors, etc. all benefited.

Are the government "shovel ready" project funding similar to sending citizens on an extended summer vacation? Yes, it will cause significant economic activity, just like summer vacations do. Just like the vacation pay people receive from employers, it greases the wheel, providing the financial enabling that is required.

Like Schiff says in the video, how much productivity is associated with the bailouts, and the $3 trillion in spending? Is it competing unfairly with the private sector?

If we were just "cut lose" from our regular job, with no vacation pay, how many families could afford to take the time off? How would they afford food, let alone expensive travel and "nice to do" activities? They couldn't, for the most part.

When the government's "summer vacation" money is gone, we'll have to come back to work, tired and broke, and work to pay off what we spent.

Unfortunately, this government budget and the huge hangover from the (un-deserved ???) party on the government's tab, we will be lucky if we can afford another vacation a decade or two from now. This Stimulus Bill will quickly becomes the taxpayers tab, like inviting yourself out for supper to celebrate at the most expensive restaurant in town, and picking up the check for yourself. Nice to keep being invited out to so many parties, treated to a free meal by your rich friend, right?

If you spent $1 million every day, starting from the day when Jesus was born, right up to today, the total spent would still be less that Congress' recent Stimulus Bill for just 2009. Multiply that staggering amount by 4, and you have the cost of the Iraq War (so far).

Hope everybody can last long enough to pay off the whopper of debt we are adding to our overloaded backs. Good thing we're not camels, and it's money instead of straw; otherwise we might need medical attention soon.
